Writing Challenge 6 - Paper Mache

He dipped the paper into the glue in the most careful manner. Each strip of paper was a masterpiece and he took pride in his creations. Strip. Glue, repeat. He gently place each strip on his creation using his tools to shape and mold the pieces to match his subject. There was very little other sounds in his work room, a radio off in the distance quietly played a local radio station, Yesterday by the Beatles was playing. The room was mostly wood cabinets and tables with an old concrete floor and course his creations. He was a craftsmen to the highest degree and he was proud of what he had done. He stopped and took a deep breath, this kind of work always took a lot of out him. He took a long drink of his coffee, the bitterness made him alert.

He looked down to view the subject again, a small girl lay on his floor. Her eyes were closed and her blue dress was perfect. The dress was not important for his creation but he treated each of his subjects with love and attention so the dress was perfect.

He viewed the lines of her face, the way her hair fell across her forehead. The beauty of forever sleep.

The small bells on the outside door tinkled. A customer has arrived. The man gets up from his seat and steps over the little girl. He opens up the door and into the storefront which is filled with hundreds of paper mache people, animals, mountains, and monsters. He greets the mother and daughter who have just walked in, the small girl is super excited, this is her favorite store.

“Welcome to McGins craft corner, im John McGin. How can I help you today?” He said with a smile, that was almost genuine. His eyes darted to the little girl running around is store and they were then touched by sadness.

“I understand you take special requests and can make an perfect paper copy of my little girl.” She said. “I can do that” Said Mr McGin. “But its not cheap and you understand my method. Are you sure this is something you want to do?”

The woman looked over at the child and a look of hatred sparks across her face.
“Yes. I am sure”.

McGin took a deep breath, “If this is what you want, please come back in two weeks. I am currently working on a project.” McGin looked at the little girl again and he sighed, another person who does not know what they have and treating it like garbage.

He went back to work. He loved his creations and soon he would have another project to do.
