Update 10.07

My wife and I have decided to move our family out of Corona where we live. This has completely derailed any side projects that I have. When things pick back up I will give another update.

Peer Pressure

Our son had his first case of peer pressure yesterday. We don't really push any gender norms on him, he prefers swords and cars so thats generally the kind of items we get him as gifts. But we also do things like enjoy Disney movies and since we go to Disneyland and DCA often he enjoys things like "The Little Mermaid".

His TK class was allowed to go to the library and check out a book. The book would have to be left in their cubbies and he wasn't super clear with me on when they could read the books only that it was so cool. (We read to him every night so hes very familiar with books). The book he chose to get from the library was "An Ariel book". So i assume it was some entry level book that had lots of pictures. I asked him how he liked it and he said it was "cool". That pretty much ended the conversation.

I found out the next day that he had a talk with Lani in the car on the way home. Another kid in his class saw that James and chosen an Ariel book and said "Ariel is stupid". James didn't mention it to the teacher and when Lani said that it wasn't very nice and you do not have to listen to him if you like the book its ok. He said that he did like it.

Who teaches 4/5 year olds that something is "stupid". Their older siblings and their parents. Someone had to go out of their way to impress upon this other kid that a story is dumb. Makes me sad. I really hate most of the kids shows he watches because they are super annoying but we let him watch them because he likes them. It really makes me think that I have to watch what I say around him so that he doesn't ruin another kids happiness because he father doesn't like something.

[Pre Game]

The Meeting

Its the dawn of a new era for our family. With the changes in technology being a member has become more and more difficult. We all (every major family) have decided to come together to bring back the corporation. One single entity business that will bring everyone into the future.

You have been invited to the summit to figure out how all this will work. You will represent your families interest and make sure you aren't left behind. Unfortunately it is known that not everyone wants things to change. Some of the smaller families have no intention of allowing anyone to tell them what to do. They will be out there, pretending to be one you, they may even resort to removing all those who don't see things their way from the picture.

There are at least 10 major outfits and another 15 minor houses at this event. Make sure it goes our way.

Day 0

The Family council comes to order. The 19 of you are all sitting around, mostly trying to look bored. There is lots of basics to get through before the real stuff begins. Soon Cyrus the chosen (the first among equals) stands up.

“Greetings to all of you. We have gathered this day to make sure the the future of our interest are protected. My family and I have done very well, but we can only continue to do better if we ALL work together.

This is my proposal. The members here become the heads of a new family sympathetic corporation. The goals of this venture would be to secure our cash flow and launder the money to look legitimate.

Everyone will benefit , no families will go hungry. This is what I propose.”

Everyone was impressed by the speech, you knew what the meeting was about but hearing it out loud made it seem real. Everyone eventually heads off to their own rooms to enjoy the evening as they will.

Day 1

As you all head to the conference room for another round of talks and deliberation there is a stir in the air. It is announced that Cyrus, has been killed. Immediately everyone looks hard. This isnt going to end well.

There was a note on the body

“We the Lupine, do not believe in unity. We will not allow our sacred rights to be stomped on by you. Each night we will kill another person till you understand that we are really in charge”

There is much stirring and commotion. What are we going to do? You all decide that the best thing to do is execute these wolves, infront of everyone. You create a court that will call for two people to be put up for judgement, the winner gets to live, the loser...gets to take the long sleep.

[Accusation phase starts]

Well my friends. It appears that we have wolves in our midst. I think we all know what needs to be doing. You believe that both John and Joslyn are wolves. Lets take a vote by secret ballot.

The actions of Joslyn have not gone unnoticed. Someone whos mind is so crazy is not a good representative of our Families. Joslyn, you have been chosen. As soon as the words are spoken someone shoots Joslyn in the head. She falls to the floor. Let us hope that this show of force will stop anyone, even the wolf gang from further violence.

[Night 1 starts]

Day 2

After a good night sleep you all get back together in the conference room. Everyone but Gordon that is. He was found with a knife in his back. Who could have done it? Who would break their code of peace in this place?

The disrespect gets deeper and deeper. Today you are supposed to be covering territory. But first you need to find the wolves who think they are better than you.

[Gordon the Made Man is dead (villager)]

The vote was taken. Mallory was pushed into the middle. She suddenly shouts. “You will all fail! The wolves are going to stop this farce and take our rightful place at the head of the table!”. She then pulled a gun and went to start shooting. She took three rounds right through her chest before she hit the ground.

We got one. You hope this is the only wolf. But you know that it probably isnt.

[Night 2 starts]

Day 3

Everyone wakes up. Well everyone but Chris Shanley. He was found dead in his bed, smothered to death. It must have been some kind of magician who did it, because the locks weren't touched. Across his dead face was a note “Chris was a lone wolf, and deserved to die.”

After the shock of seeing Chris’s face you also notice that Scarlett’s door was shot up. It appears there was some kind of gun fight infront of her place, perhaps she hired a bodyguard to protect her and keep the wolves from her door.

You all sit back down around the table. Before the meeting you must accuse!

Accusations

Everyone was quiet. The pressure was on. You know there are still traitors in your midst. But who to choose? Out of no-where someone pushes Alex. This guys been quiet hes probably bad. Someone else pushes out Tyler, this guy too. He deserves to die.

Execution

The hands were counted and Alex was put to his knees. “This council is a sham and should be destroyed!  All of you will die at the hands of the wolves. We are forever!” Alex was then smothered with a plastic bag, to keep clean up to a minimum.

A good feeling travels through everyone. Thats three wolves down. How many more could there be?

Day 4

Last night Chris Patlovany was killed. A wolf card was placed on his chest. I guess they got another one. You all settle back into you chairs, confident. There can't be more than a few wolves can there? You think you will get them today. Lets hope you do, if they continue to kill you, they will take over.

Many of you seem very sure about who you want to execute. Guess there isn’t much else to say this day its going to either be Tyler or Josh.

Tyler Endicott, please step into the middle of the room. You have been found guilty of being a wolf in sheeps clothing. You killed Cyrus and you have to pay.

Tyler slowly walked into the middle of the room. Your right I killed him, this council wont go anywhere. You are all week. The wolves would have made this great. I hope you all wither and die.

Tyler was shot once to bring him down and then twice in the head.

Congratulations Mobsters. You did it. No more wolves!!!!

Traffic

Sometimes I think "we are going through so much to leave a house that we love to move, is it worth it?" Then I spend 30 minutes just trying to get on the freeway and another 45 minutes on the freeway to get to work and I think "Yes, yes it is."

Journal Entry “The incident”

We found a thing

Im not sure what happened...We found...a thing. The first intact alien creature that we have ever seen. It was dead, frozen. Our team dug it out of the ice and put it into Lab 4, the clean lab that we never used.

We got to work cutting it up and seeing what made it tick. It's hard to describe what it was, it didn't seem to be one creature, but multiple creatures. A kinda of plant, dog, man-like thing. With the other information that we have it appears that these creatures can change and adapt their form. This could mean great things for us, the uses could be endless.

The Alarm

I was tasked with cataloging each piece and putting it into deep storage. Weird, it's thawing much faster than it rightfully should.

I found that some of the pieces are moving. Immediately I started emergency protocol. The station chief, our head of security, and our psychic came. They looked it all over and said that I was exaggerating. That may be but i'm not going back in there.

The incident

A lot just happened so i'll try to make it quick. An alarm sounded at around midnight. Everyone was woken up and headed to the alarm. It was lab 4. While doing an autopsy on the creature the researcher pulled the alarm. Apparently one of the pieces that was waiting for storage came to life and attacked her.

The entire lab is now on lockdown because that piece is missing. We think it went into the air system. I can't believe I just wrote that.

Journal Entry “Invaded”

The Cloths

We found a bloody set of cloths. We don't know who they belonged to because we all wear the same thing. Everyone is whispering, it's now believed that the thing has taken at least one person in the station. If they are perfect copies we will have no idea who to trust.

We must get this under control. We can't let this thing live. Two of our researchers are investigating what to do….

The idea

Well we dont have any good ideas. We do have a bad one. We can put someone into a deep freeze locker. We believe that it will kill the creature or at least force it to show its face. Unfortunately if we put a human in there they cannot be unfrozen till the summer when the next group comes in.

Our psychic can scan people, but only once a day at night when they are completely relaxed. Hopefully the thing doesn't know who the psychic is.

Its time

We have gathered everyone into the dining room. Instead of drawing straws we are going to put people into deep freeze by popular vote.

[Day 1 - Morning - Accusation phase]

First in

We talked and talked and talked. Not a lot got done. Something happened, maybe it was a air conditioner turning on, maybe a light when out, but soon we were at each other's throats. Many accusations were thrown around.

Scarlett and Bryan were accused. The votes would be taking place by secret ballot. I hope I never have to be up for vote.

First Frozen

The ballots were counted. Scarlett was pushed to the chamber. I'm the Station Chief, you can't do this to me. But we were resolved. The cryostasis “should” keep her alive...if she's human. In she went. The freeze process didn't really take very long. I hope she didn't suffer.

Journal - Day 2

A nasty sight

With the station chief dead there was a bit of chaos. Panic was starting to set in. I ended up sleeping with a nice bottle of whisky to keep me company. We found John Worrall's body. Looks like someone walked in on a creature trying to consume him. It was nasty stuff. Turns out John was trying to change into someone else, i can't explain it any better than that. Guess he won't be sending any gifts for christmas.

The answer to a question

We all wondered if someone can be taken out of deep freeze. No one was supposed to be able to open the cryostasis pod, but it appears that magically Scarlett’s pod was opened and she unfroze. Believe it or not she was alive. She has restarted her duties as station chief. Guess we got lucky with that one.

The next cryostasis chamber was ready to go so we all met again in the cryo lab. I don't know who to trust. I know i’m not a thing, but I don't know about anyone else. Factions are starting to form. You can see the calculation in their eyes. I try to stay in the back as discussions restarted.

The Meek

With Scarlett back, there was a little more order but the tone was strange. She had a good guess about who voted for her and she wasn't too happy about it. It seemed that no one would put up accusations this time, I know I wouldn't. But that didn't matter enough people pointed enough fingers.

Bryan and Theresa were chosen and the ballots were collected.

Who is innocent?

Of course both of them claimed they were innocent.They each had credible excuses, but at the end of the day that's all they were, \excuses. Bryan name was called by Scarlett. Bryan protested but he didnt fight. He knew that he would be OK, he was human after all. A Few months in cryostasis and he would be back working on his research project.

Day 3

Researchers continue to die

I was fine last night locked up in my bunk. Ive always been a loner its a good thing to. They found Jon-Enee. Well we are pretty sure it was him, it looked like him. His body was found outside, he must have been sneaking around trying to figure out who the creatures were on his own. But hes dead now.

The next freezer is ready to go. I wonder whos going in this time.

Another vote

Lots of talk but not a lot of action. No one wants to accuse their friends, their co-workers. After a few hours there was finally enough accusations that a vote could be called. Its sad that just a few people wield so much power. But who's going to stop them? Not me, I just stay hidden away.

Theresa and Josh were decided on. Now it's time to vote.

A tie!

I didn't think it would happen. I guess we are just going to throw them both in. Scarlett was gone and wasn't here to break the tie. Things are breaking down. We are going to freeze them both.

Another innocent in Cryo

Well it was bound to happen again but another researcher has been placed in statis. Theresa didnt seem to mind. I think she was tired of being afraid. The sense of relief on her face was very odd. I guess no one realizes if the creatures win we all die. Maybe we will do better tomorrow.

We got one!

As soon as their name was called it changed into what I think is its true form. Bloated and gross Josh wouldn't allow himself to be put into the cryostasis chamber. He made it outside, but we hit him with the modified flame throwers we use to de-ice the helicopters. The sound that came out of him was like nothing I had heard before, part creature, part human.

Day 4

Off the rails

It appears that even the creatures are starting to get desperate, but so are we. When I was checking bunks this morning I found Alex, it looks like some kind of...magic spelled killed him. There was a wound that was still glowing a faint blue. Too bad he was just a researcher.

While I was looking at Alex there was a large commotion coming from Chris’s bunk. He is our head of security and he was putting up a fight. Everyone was running but the door was locked. We couldn't get in. Chris’s gun fired. The bullet went right through the wall and killed Mario. We broke down the door. Chris was dead, the creature that killed him wasn't there. It must have gone out the window because it was broken.

Only 8 people left. Im starting to think we aren't going to be leaving this place.

Another Creature

The votes came in quick. You could see Kari getting restless. After the last vote was called she immediately lunged after Scarlett. Everyone ran. Scarlett seemed to hide in her office and locked down the lab. Kari started to bash down the main door. We quickly rushed to get the flame units. We automatically opened the door and we torched it. Its deathrattle was terrible. I think there's at least one more creature.

I hope we find it in time.

Day 5

System Shock

A psychic scream. I don't know how else to describe it. I awoke late last night. My head was killing me and I could hear someone screaming. I unlocked my door and raced down the hall. Gordon’s body...laid on the ground. It appears he had been trying to find more creatures using his mind powers. They found him first. We are getting down to the wire. Lets hope today goes better.

Thoughts

There's only six of us left. I'm pretty lucky that everyone trusts me. Would I know if I was a creature? I don't know… there isn't much left to do now. We have lost so many good men and woman. I hope we stop this thing.

The 5th Chamber

We all gather around the 5th freezing chamber. Is locked and ready to go. There isn't much arguing today. Mallory and Peter were both put on the block. I wonder which one it's going to be.

Fear

Mallory’s name was up. She walked directly over to the cryostasis pod. It looks like we had made another mistake. As she enters Cesar locked the door. As the process started Mallory started to change. She burst into ...something part dog and part human...and maybe part plant. The door flew off its hinges but we were ready. We rolled a stick of TNT into the chamber. That was all she wrote.

We believe we got it all. We believe we are safe. I hope its true. The next crew will be here soon and we are working at defrosting the humans. I hope we learned our lesson. I hope.

Werewolf - Game 4 - Shadow Gulch

In this game players were townsfolk in a western style town.

My name is Zane Masterson. I am the sheriff in these parts. I welcome you to Shadow Gulch. This isnt your normal town. Things...happen here. The nearby mine shows an eerie glow at night and folks says they hear howls. Its scary.

Adventurers, fighters, priests, troublemakers, all flock here and now here you all are. Hoping to make your fortune. Well, let me tell you, it’s likely that most of you will die, can't be helped. I hope you know what your role is in this here town, cause that's what's going to save you. Just a villagers, well then I hope your door is locked and the windows are shut.

Monsters like to come out at night, can you stop them? Probably not, but apparently you are what I got to do the job. I dont know how many of them there are, who which of you can be trusted, so if we think someone is a werewolf, well...we just shoot em.

Get some sleep, you are going to need it.

[Day 1 to start shortly]

Day 1

Dust and tumbleweeds fill the streets, the mayor's officer looks closed. Its quiet in Shadow Gulch. It appears that most of the township has headed to the town hall at the end of Main Street. As you get closer you hear an uproar.

“Zanes Dead” a woman wales. “Now what are we doing to do?” “Who's going to stop those vile beasts from taking over the town?”

Everyone pauses at this, the town inherently knew this was bad, but it was starting to sink in. They all knew that the lycan infection had been spread to some of the townspeople, what they didn't know what who was affected. It could be anyone. The only one you can trust is yourself.

A voice raises “People, now that the sheriff is gone, we should go back to the old ways.” The old ways… I wonder what that could mean. You don't wonder long.

We will execute someone every day at noon till the killing stops and the werewolves are dead. Its the only way. This plan seems completely absurd, you were raised civilized. But you can see that everyone else thinks this is a good idea and you are afraid if you speak against it, you will be the first to go.

So who’s a werewolf, and who’s a human?

[day 1 accusation phase]

After a long spell the group got quiet. It became obvious that they had settled on two people whom might be Werewolves. there were no obvious allegiances, a bunch of lone pines.  Perhaps it was fear, perhaps it was certainty, but two names were called.

Mario Fernandez and Joshua Horst.

“alright people” someone called. Which one’s last thought will be a bullet?

The count is made, and its immediately clear. Mario Fernandez, you have been found guilty of werewolfery. Your sentence, death.

Mario screams: You idiots, I am a powerful Sorcerer. No one can stop me, all of you villagers are doo…. BANG!

Mario fell over with a small hole between his eyes. Some near the door says “Well, looks like his sorcery didn’t save him from my lead sandwich.”

All of you are taken aback. A sorcerer? What else could we be facing? Lets hope tonight is quiet.

[Night 1 to commence. Those of you with special jobs will be contacted]

Day 2

It was a cold night out in the desert land of Shadow Gulch. The moon was big in the sky, and everything threw extra long shadows. You hear multiple howls “ow, ow owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww”.

You all awake and go bout your business. Mucking stables, shoeing horses, all those things that make frontier life. You were awake all night, the howls never stopped. They are out there, waiting for you. At 9am you mosey on down to the townhall.

Someone murmers “wonder who got killed?”

“Dont know.” says someone else.

People are getting ancy. Finally some tells everyone to shut up “Shut up”, and sit down “and Sit Down.”

You take your seat. The voice continues “Now it looks like we are all here, so either, the wolves have left, and we all know that , that aint true. Or, they turned someone else. Now there is more of them to fear.”

We had a good start kill that damned sorcerer Mario. Who we killing today?

[ Day 2 accusation phase begins]

The votes have been tallied. Too bad for David. He calmly walked up to the stage a small smirk on his face. You never noticed it before but there is a make shift gallows.

As the nose rounds his neck, David yells over the crowd. “I feel bad for you poor villagers. I could have saved one of you, I could have easily killed the wolves, but no one asked me. I was the only witch in 100 miles”.

A short drop later he was dead.

[Night 2 has begun}

Day 3

Darkness warshed over the gulch - darker'n a black steer's tookus on a moonless prairie night. You know something bad was going to happen. The howls raged!

A scream rips through the night, a woman. You try to listen hard to figure out who it is, but alas, no. Just a gurgle and then nothing. When the sun comes up you race towards the scream.

You arrive to see Scarlett, body a mess. It appears she was doing some sort of spell to see “Auras”. Unfortunately for her it didn’t protect her from death.

Everyone heads to the town hall. Scarlett was trying to help everyone, she was looking for people with power who could help. Oh well, guess that wont be happening again. Someone is going to pay for this!

The clock strikes Noon.

Shadow Gulch is a hot place today. Another person dead. Two of our citizens in the dirt. I think its time for a hanging.

Townspeople, Peter and DD have been accused of being werewolves. By a show of hands, who gets to hang?

Day 4

Its  a late stormy night when you hear the howls. Multiple wolves are growling. Then a warcry reaches your ears, someone is actually fighting the wolves. You aren’t going out there, you’re not stupid, but you hope for the best. Thunder rolls, lightning strikes.

You don’t know whos winning but the fight seems to go on forever. Then you hear it, a cry of pain then nothing. The gentle sound of the rain. Thunder!

As the sun rises you leave your homes. You of course head to the sound you heard last night. DD is there, with her armor on. It appears she was on the way to protect someone and got caught out in the street. She couldn’t fight them off.

When you get to the town people are furious. DD could have saved everyone. A trouble maker in the back says “We should hang two people today!!!!!!!”

“Fine Fine” says someone in the back. “We will hang two today!”

Those werewolves are going to pay! But who are they?

[DD the BodyGuard is dead]

[Day 4 accusations. There will be two hangings today. After the first hanging accusations will begin again for a second]

Kari and Cesar are lead to the stage. The votes are counted.

7 votes for Cesar.

The townspeople didn’t know what to do. How do we break a tie? You suspect both of these people… The tension reaches a fever pitch. At that time Cesar transforms into A werewolf and Kills Kari for causing so much trouble for him.

Kari was dead instantly, the townspeople open up with their rifles and 6 shooters and put down Cesar as well.

Well, that was one hanging. We need to do another. you all look around blood spattered across your faces. Who will it be?

[Accusation phase 2 is on, please accuse before 1pm]

After the blood bath that just happened, most people are silent. Thomas and Jon both were trying to help clean up the mess and everyone quickly pointed the finger that them.

“They are the wolves”

“Kill them”

Both jon and Thomas deny being a wolf and claim to simply be trying to help. But one of them won’t be helping much longer.

“looks like everyone but one person voted” a voice said. “Guess that means we are ready”.

Thomas please step forward. You have been found guilty.

Thomas seemed to know this was coming. He put his hands together and prayed. “My children, I was not able to save anyone, not even myself. Good luck.”

Thomas died quietly.

[Night 4 Begins]

Day 5

You heard it last night. Another person dead at the hands of the wolves. The sound was terrifying. You have heard all manner of creature be killed; cows, horses, dogs, but nothing like this. The shriek seemed to go through you mind not just your body.

After the sun came up the 10 people left in town came together. Turns out Mallory was killed. You hear that she was killed around some sort of crystal ball; perhaps she was trying to see something. Well… I guess she didn’t see that coming.

You see hard looks in everyone’s eyes, so much death. Even out here in the Wild no one should see so many people die so quickly. You gotta kill their Werewolves fast…or they will take over the town.

[Day 5 Accusation phase]

A sound carries over the wind. What is that…? A harmonica? What’s the song” Oh Suzanna…”? This eerie sound continues as everyone discusses what to do next.

It appears to come down the 3 people . John, Jon, and Alex. With no way to break the tie, all three were forced to step up.

OK folks, whos a werewolf?

Three people may have been put up to hang, but it appears that everyone had their sights already set.

Alex Wilcox, the only youngster there was immediately singled out. “Its your time to die Wolf” shouts someone nearby. Alex cries, he doesn’t want to be hung…but who does. There is steel now in the hearts of the villagers.

As the noose is put around his neck, Alex transforms into a Wolf cub, but his thrashing caused the stool to be kicked out from underneath him and he hung himself.

Another wolf down.

I think the wolves will get revenge tonight. Is anyone safe?

[Night 5 has started]

The moon was bright during the 5^th night. Everyone expected to the worse. Shadow Gulch hadn’t seen such violence in a long time. After the sun rose, you got dressed and headed to the town hall, wondering who got dead.

There…on stage… hanging … were Julianne and Chris Shanley. It appears there were there having a secret meeting, probably trying to figure out how to kill the werewolves while they still could. But that doesn’t matter now.

There are six townspeople left. Who can you trust?

It appears that two camps have formed. Those favoring Jon and those favoring Gordon.  They were at an impasse. The votes were tied. Chris Patlovany was afraid, he had a terrible sense about what was going on. He quickly drew is gun and killed Jon. Jon Transformed into the beast he was and killed Gordon.

Chris was satisfied, he thought that was it. Sure Gordon was dead but so was the last werewolf.  He looks over at John Worrall and both sign with relief.

As they do the others Josh and Tyler attacked. John and Chris didn’t stand a chance. The wolves had won. After cleaning up the blood and mess, they renamed the down “Moon Rising” and waited for more settlers to come. It was going to be a good year.
